Staff Exemplar – Mrs. Sheila Zagotta, Social Worker, Westfield Middle School
- Sheila Zagotta has served for more than 12 years as a social worker in District
13 and all of them at Westfield Middle Schools
- Throughout this school year, she has stepped in to help numerous students
during a time when they relied on her more than in previous years. Her door is
always open to anyone who needs her. When students come to see Mrs.
Zagotta, she will stop what she is doing and patiently listen to their concerns.
- She has been a constant support for students when they have needed her, no
matter what the challenge.
- In addition to working with students, Mrs. Zagotta volunteers to support the
school in many ways. She greets students at the front door in the morning and
often helps at lunch.
- Mrs. Zagotta also supports students outside of school by attending field trips like Feed My Starving Children with Student Council and Interact Club, participating
in the Warrior Holiday Games and even playing in the Staff versus Students Basketball Brawl.
- Because her dedication and commitment to the entire school community is such an important part of the students’ success at Westfield during this school year, the Board of Education is honored to award Mrs. Sheila Zagotta the staff exemplar award for the month of April.
